What is Beastcoast rap?  My interpretation of the younger, new-school East Coast movements:

Ok, so the Beastcoast movement includes Pro Era (top left), The Underachievers (top right), Phony Ppl (bottom left) and Flatbush Zombies. (bottom right). Sure some are familiar with them.

“Beast Coast is the movement established by Pro Era after they threw a concert called “Return Of The Beast Coast”“ It is a rap collective of East Coast 90’s kids slowly but surely planning to take over the East Coast rap scene (or the rap scene in general). Sorry to categorise them but I’m gonna be straight up and say I hear the generic East Coast sound and flow in their music sometimes. Which is incredible. Although they include a LOT of creativity.

They’re young … and “new”. Let’s give them enough time to “bloom”, although they’re already ripping things with the mic. But they’re kids. Babies. With the likes of Joey Bada$$ only being 17. And we all know when an artist “blows” up a little, we discover a whooooooole list of work they’d made waaaay back in the day that we’d never heard of.

Correct me if I’m wrong but we haven’t had a major rap collective movement in forever.

I got this feeling about J Cole and Kendrick Lamar when I 1st started listening to them, while they had minimal popularity. You can almost sense someone or something is going to pull off.

The BeastCoast recently commended TDE (Black Hippy) saying “They’re leading the generational change currently, all awesome artist with unique styles. They are also successfully getting people into an enlightened state of mind, so technically they are our family.” I can understand this, noticing that they incorprate a lot of concious content in their rap. Similar to the HiiiPower movement sometimes.

I must say, with the likes of Pusha T and A$ap Rocky, the East Coast has some decent representation today.

I just think it’s be incredible if they really pushed to the surface the whole “BeastCoast movement”. And really made noise about the movement as a whole. We need something different and huge collection like this could be awesome. It could be the closest we’ll have to some Wu shit.

[I haven’t been following the BeastCoast for a long time so correct me on anything]
